CBSE Practical Exams 2025-26: New SOPs & Dates Released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) just released a new set of guidelines for the Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams. These updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) cover internal checks and project work, too. The goal is to ensure fairness and accuracy in the CBSE Practical Exams 2025-26 across all schools. Teachers and students must review the official notice on cbse.gov.in quickly.

Key Dates for Your Practical Exams

You need to know your exam window now, because the dates are very strict. The schedule divides schools into two categories based on their climate. The CBSE will not grant any extension for these set dates. For example, schools must reschedule a sports student’s practical within the given window.

  • Winter-bound schools: Exams run from November 6 to December 6, 2025.
  • Regular session schools: Exams happen between January 1 and February 14, 2026.

Mandatory Rules for Schools

The new rules place a huge emphasis on transparency and timely action by schools. First, examiners must upload all marks on the same day the assessment takes place. This quick step ensures marks cannot be changed later after they are uploaded to the portal. Schools must also strictly follow the maximum marks for subjects as listed in the November 17 circular.

  • Upload student marks instantly on the day of the exam.
  • Keep all answer books safe for at least one year after results.
  • The board will appoint an external examiner for Class 12 assessments.
  • Batches must not exceed 30 students, splitting them into sub-groups for the lab.

Fair Play and Strict Compliance

The CBSE demands that schools maintain very clear records of the assessment process. Unfair means, like trying to influence an examiner, will result in strict action against the student. Also, schools must properly scan and securely store the final award lists. Not following these important CBSE Practical Exams SOPs can lead to the cancellation of the whole examination.

The new CBSE guidelines improve transparency and ensure everyone works by the same book. Download the PDF today and start your preparation now.
