Uttar Pradesh Schools Closed Till January 1

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the temporary closure of schools across the state amid worsening weather conditions and an intense cold wave. As per the latest directive, all schools up to Class 12 will remain closed until January 1, 2026 in multiple districts.

Cold Wave Forces School Shutdown in UP

The decision applies to CBSE, CISCE, and Uttar Pradesh Board institutions and has been taken to ensure student safety as temperatures continue to drop sharply. Dense fog and chilling winds have significantly reduced visibility and increased health risks for children.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued the order after reviewing weather reports indicating prolonged cold conditions in several regions, including Noida and Ghaziabad. District administrations have been instructed to strictly enforce the closure and monitor the situation on ground.

Field Inspections Ordered

Senior government officials have been directed to conduct on-site inspections rather than relying solely on weather data. Authorities will assess road conditions, fog intensity, and public safety concerns before announcing reopening dates.

Students and parents are advised to remain in contact with their respective schools for updates regarding online classes or revised academic schedules.

Special Measures for Vulnerable Groups

Alongside school closures, the state government has also rolled out emergency relief measures for homeless and vulnerable populations. District administrations have been asked to arrange blankets, night shelters, and bonfires to help people cope with the harsh winter spell.

North India Also Affected by Cold Weather

Several other northern states are experiencing similar weather conditions:

Bihar and Jharkhand: Districts such as Patna, Saharsa, and Nalanda have ordered school closures until December 31, 2025. In some areas, senior classes may continue depending on local conditions.

Himachal Pradesh: Heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures have prompted the state government to extend winter vacations. Schools in many regions will remain closed until December 31, 2025, citing road safety and poor visibility concerns.

Local administrations may further extend holidays if weather conditions do not improve.
