CBSE Marks Distribution Scheme for Class 10 & 12 Board Exams 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notice outlining the complete marks distribution structure for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The circular also highlights the most common errors schools commit while uploading marks for Practical Exams, Internal Assessments, and Project Work.

1. Detailed Marks Allocation
The CBSE has issued an updated subject-wise marks breakup for:
Theory Examinations
Practical Exams
Project Assessments
Internal Assessments (IA)
The notice also specifies:
Whether the subject requires an external examiner
Whether CBSE will provide the practical answer book
The type of answer book to be used in theory exams
2. CBSE Warns Schools About Uploading Errors
CBSE noted that schools frequently make mistakes during the online submission of marks on the portal.
The board emphasized strict compliance:
“Schools must ensure accuracy while uploading Practical/Project/Internal Assessment marks. No requests for corrections will be entertained later due to negligence or procedural excuses.”

From January 1, 2026
Till February 14, 2026
Schools must conduct practical exams strictly within this window.
