The National Testing Agency NTA has issued the NEET Ranking Criteria for toppers and downloading of Score Cards for the students. For the clarification on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET Toppers 2021 that were declared along with the result announcement on 1st November 2021, NTA has released a notification. The candidates are advised to visit the official website if NTA to check the criteria for NEET Rank 2021.

Age Criteria Excluded for Calculation of Toppers

In the NEET 2021 exam, three students or candidates with the same number of 720 marks, the NTA had to use the tie-breaking formula to decide the All India rank issued to them. Looking at the previous trend, there are different levels of tie-breaking quality and the final stage of this process involves considering the age quality factor. However, through the latest notification, the NTA has made it clear that it has not used the 'age criteria' for rating purposes.

Age Criteria Considered for Counselling Ranks

An official notice issued by the NTA said that the first All India Rank for counseling has been given to the candidate without setting the age tie-breaking criteria. But, in order to smooth the counseling process, it is important for students to achieve unique ranks in order to avoid any contradictions later. With that in mind, the second All India Rank for Counseling also considers age tie-breaking criteria. The notice further states, "Accordingly, the first 'All India Rank for Counseling' is without age tie-breaking criteria. However, since unique ranks are required for the purpose of counseling, the second 'All India Rank for Counseling' "Also, keep in mind the age tie-breaking standards."

Three Toppers But Different Counselling Ranks

As per the NEET result declared recently, three candidates, Mrinal Kutteri, Tanmay Gupta and Karthika Nai, achieved 720 marks. So, the NTA’s latest notice says that all 3 candidates are considered as toppers as they have the same score. However, only for the purpose of Counselling, they have been awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks respectively. In light of this development, NTA has invited candidates to download their Score Cards again, they may do so from neet.nta.nic.in.

According to the recently announced NEET results, Mrinal Kutteri, Tanmay Gupta and Karthika Nai, all three candidates scored 720 marks. Therefore, the latest NTA notice states that all 3 candidates are considered toppers because their scores are the same. However, for counseling purposes only, they have been awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank respectively. So NTA advised to download their scorecard again by visiting the official website of NTA.
