NEET PG to be Replaced with NExT (National Exit Test) for PG Admission

The examination schedule of NEET PG 2023 for April-May 2023 might be the last examination for Postgraduate Medical Examinations. According to the reports by the Media National Exit Test NExT will replace NEET PG, So 2023 might be the last year for NEET PG.

According to the reports by the Media National Medical Commission has recently conducted a meeting and conveyed to the Union Health Ministry that it plans to conduct the National Exit Test NExT in December 2023 for the Admissions of PG. If exams are conducted in December 2023, the MBBS students from the batch of 2019-2020 batch will be appearing for the exams. The results of these exams will be used for admissions to the PG programmes offered for the 2023-25 academic session.

NExT Test will be Qualifying Exams for PG Admissions



As per the reports by the media, The NExT exam will replace the NEET PG and will be considered the Qualifying Exam for the PG and as a Screening Exam for Foreign Medical Graduates who wish to continue practicing in India.

The Government in September has asked for relevant provisions of the NMC Acts to extend the time limit for conducting the NExT exams until September 2023, According to the Law, the commission was supposed to conduct a Common Final-Year undergraduate Medical Examination as specified by the regulations within the three years of it coming into the force. The act came into effect in September 2020 and according to the sources all India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi is likely to conduct the test instead of the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences. A decision is yet to be taken on this matter.
