The NEET MDS 2024 saga continues as aspirants await a verdict on the plea for its postponement. Amidst mounting pressure from candidates, the matter has reached the corridors of the Supreme Court, with a hearing scheduled for March 15, 2024—a mere three days before the scheduled exam date.

As per the latest updates, the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has confirmed that the registration window for NEET MDS 2024 has closed, leaving candidates in a state of anticipation regarding the fate of the examination. Despite fervent appeals for a change in schedule, the exam date remains unchanged, set for March 18, 2024. Admit cards, crucial for examination participation, are slated to be issued on the very day the plea is to be heard in court.

The grounds for postponement primarily revolve around the challenges faced by candidates, with concerns ranging from inadequate preparation time to internship completion deadlines. Calls for a deferral to July 2024 have gained momentum, culminating in a petition filed before the Supreme Court. While the verdict remains pending, candidates continue to await official confirmation.

Previously, the Supreme Court had directed the Centre to expedite its decision regarding the representation for postponement. However, despite the judicial directive, the issue lingered unresolved for nearly two weeks, further exacerbating the uncertainty surrounding the examination.

In response to mounting pressure, the National Board of Examination (NBE) has extended the internship completion deadline to June 30, 2024. This decision offers a glimmer of hope to candidates, particularly those whose internship dates transcend the prior deadline of March 31. Consequently, the registration window for NEET MDS 2024 will reopen for applicants completing their internships between April 1 and June 30.

As the courtroom drama unfolds and the fate of NEET MDS 2024 hangs in the balance, candidates remain on tenterhooks, hoping for a resolution that accommodates their concerns while upholding the integrity of the examination process.
