The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti concludes the online registration window for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test for Class 6 admissions for the 2027–28 academic session on July 31, 2026. Eligible students and guardians can submit their application forms through the official portal at cbseitms.rcil.gov.in.

 

Examination Schedule and Selection Timeline

According to the official prospectus issued by the Samiti, the nationwide selection test is scheduled to be administered on November 28, 2026. Officials expect to declare the entrance test results by March or April 2027.

 

The nationwide examination will cover 653 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, with each institution offering a maximum capacity of 80 seats for incoming Class 6 students.

 

Key Eligibility and District Rules

Candidates must fulfill specific age and academic criteria to qualify for admission consideration:

Applicants must be born between May 1, 2015, and July 31, 2017, inclusive of both dates.

Students must be enrolled in Class 5 during the 2026–27 academic year at a recognized school.

Candidates must have successfully completed Classes 3, 4, and 5 in recognized institutions.

Applicants can apply only for the JNV located within their home district, or a school within a 10 km aerial distance if studying in an adjacent district.
