JEE Main 2026 Rescheduling for April 5 Easter Clash

In a move to support student welfare, the National Testing Agency has confirmed that candidates scheduled to appear for the engineering entrance exam on April 5, 2026, can now request an alternative date. This decision follows representations from community leaders and Union Minister Suresh Gopi, highlighting that the original date coincided with Easter Sunday.

Critical Deadline for Rescheduling Requests

According to the latest official communication, the window to apply for a date change is extremely narrow. Candidates who cannot attend the exam on April 5 must submit their requests by today, March 28, 2026.

To initiate the process, students must send an email to [email protected] with their specific application details. This accommodation is exclusively for those whose religious observances directly conflict with the exam schedule, ensuring no student is at a disadvantage during this high-stakes competition.

Updated JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates and Shifts

The second session of the Joint Entrance Examination is slated to take place between April 2 and April 9, 2026. The current schedule for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) remains as follows for the general pool:

Primary Exam Dates: April 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8, 2026.

Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning): Scheduled for April 7, 2026.

Shift Timings: Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and Afternoon (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM).

How to Access the Revised Admit Card

Once the rescheduling requests are processed, the NTA official website will host the updated hall tickets. It is important to note that the city intimation slip already released at JEEMAIN is only for location awareness and cannot be used for entry.

Candidates should follow these steps for the admit card download:

Visit the official portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Login using your application number and date of birth.

Verify all personal details and the newly allotted alternative date.

Print multiple copies of the hall ticket for the examination day.
