To apply for Ph.D. programmes at IIT Patna, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria specified by the institute. Prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements before registering for the 2023 Ph.D. programme.
The maximum age limit for JRF in all disciplines is 28 years (BTech, BS, BE, MSc, MA, MCA, MBA), while for SRF, the upper age limit is 32 years (MTech, ME, MS, MPhil). However, these age restrictions only apply to candidates applying as Institute Fellows in the regular and full-time categories. If there are no age restrictions set by funding agencies, the institute regulations will be followed. In addition, Institute Fellow applicants must hold a valid GATE score as it may be required from time to time.
Eligibility requirements for SC and ST applicants are relaxed by 5% points or 0.5 CPI. Moreover, candidates who fall under the SC, ST, OBC, or Physically Disabled categories are granted a maximum five-year age relaxation for the Ph.D. programme.
