ICAI CA 2026 Surrender Exemption Facility Live at icai.org

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has introduced an online facility enabling students to voluntarily surrender their paper exemptions for upcoming examinations. Candidates appearing for the CA Intermediate September 2026 and CA Final November 2026 sessions can now submit their requests through the Self Service Portal (SSP) at icai.org.
The official announcement, signed by Joint Secretary (Examinations) CA Anand Kumar Chaturvedi, confirms that the facility covers both standard paper-wise exemptions and permanent exemptions. This digital feature aims to bring greater flexibility and transparency to examination administration.

How to Surrender Paper Exemptions via ICAI SSP Portal
Candidates must submit their requests online before the specified deadlines. The examination department will not accept offline or manual requests.
Visit Official Portal: Go to icai.org and access the Self Service Portal (SSP).
Log In: Enter your student registration number and password.
Navigate to Exam Functions: Locate the Exam Functions tab on your student dashboard.
Select Surrender Exemption Option: Choose the specific paper or permanent exemption you wish to forfeit.
Confirm Request: Verify your details and submit the surrender declaration online.
Why ICAI Introduced the Online Exemption Surrender Option
Earlier, surrendering an exemption involved manual correspondence and administrative delays. By digitizing this feature, ICAI ensures faster processing and eliminates paperwork for students preparing for multiple papers or rank attempts.
Students who surrender an exemption must appear in all papers of the respective group during the upcoming exam cycle. Candidates must evaluate their preparation carefully before submitting the final request on the SSP portal, as surrendered exemptions cannot be restored once confirmed.
