The Himachal Pradesh government has officially revised the school curriculum for Class 6 to 8 students starting from the 2027–28 academic session. Education Minister Rohit Thakur announced that updated textbooks will incorporate state history, local dialects, traditional cuisine, and regional heritage across middle schools.
The new policy aims to offer students a holistic understanding of Himachal Pradesh’s culture, geography, economy, and polity during their formative learning years.

Committee Formed for Timely Curriculum Rollout
Education Minister Rohit Thakur will head a high-level monitoring committee to ensure the timely publication and distribution of the revised books. The panel includes the Secretary of Education, representatives from the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), SCERT officials, assistant professors, and domain experts.
The panel will hold regular meetings to review chapter drafts and streamline the syllabus integration. Education department officials emphasized that early exposure to state-specific topics will also give Himachal students a distinct advantage in future state-level competitive examinations.
